At Shea Family Dentistry, serving the Riverside, CA area, Dr. John Shea offers Electronic Dental Anesthesia (EDA) to help greatly reduce the sensation of an injection. The EDA is a battery-operated device that sends mild electrical impulses through a finger pad that Dr. Shea holds against the tissue surrounding your tooth. This produces a pulsating, tingling sensation which effectively masks the discomfort of an injection.

How Old Is Your Toothbrush?
Replace your toothbrush every 3 or 4 months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won't do a good job of cleaning your teeth.
A Healthy Diet Makes a Healthy Smile!
For healthy teeth and gums, eat a balanced diet and limit between-meal snacks. Go easy on sugary treats!
It's amazing how much variety you can find in dental floss. With conventional floss, you just tear off a piece at least 18 inches and wind it around your index fingers. If you find traditional thread-like floss is uncomfortable for your gums, try dental ribbon, its smoother counterpart. Dental flossers are often regarded as being easier to manage than conventional floss. There's no need to wrap any excess thread around your fingers, which some find uncomfortable.
If you have a fixed bridge in your mouth, nifty little floss threaders allow you to thread the floss between your teeth, under the bridge work. If you have questions about dental floss, just call Shea Family Dentistry at (855) 822-8550 and we’ll be happy to make a recommendation.
Gum disease is caused by an infection in the gum tissues and bone that keep your teeth in place and it is one of the leading causes of adult tooth loss. Early gum disease, or gingivitis, can be treated and reversed if diagnosed early. Unfortunately, not receiving treatment will lead to a more serious and advanced state of gum disease.
Regular cleanings and check-ups and daily brushing and flossing are key weapons in the fight against these conditions so call Shea Family Dentistry today at (855) 822-8550 to schedule a checkup soon.
'First visit by first birthday' sums it up. Your child should visit a dentist when the first tooth comes in, usually between six and twelve months of age. Early examination and preventive care will protect your child's smile now and in the future. If you have questions regarding your baby's teeth, please call Shea Family Dentistry at (855) 822-8550 and we’ll be glad to provide the answers.
